9th Annual Baysox Free Family FunFest
The Bowie Baysox held the team's 9th Annual FREE Family FunFest sponsored by, Fantasy World Entertainment & WRNR 103.1 on Saturday afternoon, March 22. A crowd of over 2,500 Baysox Fans packed the park to help kick off the start of the 2008 baseball season at Prince George's Stadium, the 16th season of Bowie Baysox baseball.
2008 National Anthem Auditions
The Bowie Baysox, Class AA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, held successful auditions Saturday, March 8, to find individuals and groups to perform the national anthem before Baysox home games during the upcoming season. Fifty-three performers tried out and braved the wet weather making 2008 one of the better turnouts for the auditions.
2008 Fox 5 Mascot Madness Tournament
Louie, the Baysox loveable mascot, was defeated today in the first round of the 1st Annual FOX 5 Mascot Madness Basketball Tournament. Fox 5 sports reporter Dave Benz and morning show personality Holly Morris called the action. The rules of the tournament were a first basket wins, single elimination tournament with 10 mascots involved.
Central Maryland Career Fair
Twice each year, dozens of area employers gather at Prince George's Stadium in hopes of finding their next great employee. The Central Maryland Career Fair is FREE for job seekers to attend. (Business Attire is highly encouraged for all job seekers) Over 1,900 job seekers attended the 2007 Central Maryland Career Fair programs. The fair is open to exhibitors representing all companies in numerous job sectors with employment opportunities in the following fields and industries: automotive, finance, food services, health care, management, military, retail, sales and more. The Central Maryland Career Fair is held on the concourse level of Prince George’s Stadium, home of the Bowie Baysox, conveniently located right off of Route 50 and 301 in Bowie, Maryland.

The Baysox honored Julee Holderied, an 8th grader at Centreville Middle School in Centreville, MD as the winner in the 2008 “Read & Hit a Home Run” Reading Program poster design contest for Queen Anne/Anne Arundel/Howard and Baltimore Counties, sponsored by Educational Systems Federal Credit Union.

2007 Stadium Lights
The Bowie Baysox will be getting an all-new look for the 2008 season with new Stadium lights. The entire lighting system which was installed in 1994, will be replaced by all-new Musco lighting standards. Musco lights are a premiere lighting system used in stadiums and arenas throughout the World, specializing in sports lighting systems.

2007 AI Celebrity Softball Classic
Prince George's Stadium played host this year to the 5th Annual Allen Iverson Celebrity Softball Classic on Saturday, July 14th. Proceeds from the event went to the Crossover Foundation, Iverson's own charity to help out inner city youth, throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Participants in this years event included, Allen Iverson, Carmello Anthony, Nate Burelson, Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Elton Brown and Host - LaLa from MTV.
2007 Meet The Team Events
The Baysox held three different "Meet The Team" events, throughout the 2007 that included a free pre-game autograph session and a chance to meet-and-greet your favorite Baysox players and coaches.
2007 "Pink In The Park" Day
The Baysox 2nd Annual “Pink In The Park” game, a women’s cancer awareness event, sponsored by Holy Cross Hospital, on Sunday August 12th, kicked off with a special pre-game ceremony that included cancer survivors taking the field during the Baysox lineups with each Baysox player announced. There was also a Pink Jersey auction during the game, to bid on the Pink Jerseys the team was wearing for the game. The Auction raised nearly $10,000 to benefit Holy Cross Hospital’s Breast Center Fund. 6,113 attended the Baysox 2nd Annual “Pink In The Park” game.

2007 Football Fever Night - Our 5th Annual salute to the football season. This year's event had a special guest appearance by Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell and Chief Zee.
2007 Miguel Tejada Rehab
This is a photo gallery of Miguel Tejada's rehabilitation assignment in Bowie on Wednesday, August 25th. Tejada went 0-for-3 in the game, with one RBI. It was Tejada's first appearance since the former AL MVP was placed on the Disabled List on June 22nd, suffering a broken bone in his left wrist after being hit by a pitch from San Diego’s Doug Bracail on June 20th. Tejada’s stint on the Disabled List also ended the All-Star shortstop’s consecutive games played streak at 1,152 games. Tejada could not resume baseball activities for at least a month, because of the broken wrist.

2007 Yo-Yo World Record Night
The Bowie Baysox attempted to set the Guinness World Record for simultaneously yo-yoing on Saturday, May 26th following their 7:05 pm game with the Altoona Curve. 1,496 fans participated in the World Record Event. All fans who registered (ages 6 & up) recieved a free Baysox logo yo-yo to participate in the event.
2007 Meet the Team #1
Sunday April 29th, 2007 was the Baysox first of three "Meet the Team" events of the season. Players were available to sign autographs for an hour on the concourse prior to the game.
2007 Baysox Family FunFest
The Bowie Baysox, held the team's 8th Annual FREE Family FunFest sponsored by, Fantasy World Entertainment on March 31st. A record crowd of over 3,800 Baysox Fans packed the park, eclipsing the 2006 FunFest mark of 3,500 fans. Highlighting the event were appearances by Louie the Mayor of "LouieVille, MD - The Kids Capital," Nemo, Dora, SpongeBob and Scooby Doo plus ALL of the wonderful activities, rides and games available for the numerous Kids Club and family members in attendance.
2007 Baysox Boulevard
During the 2006 offseason the Bowie Baysox decided to put some character into their early gate entrance at Prince George's Stadium. The Early Gate Entrance is located to the left of the ticket windows at the Stadium. Thanks to Baysox Group Sales staff member Sean Ream and his incredible artistic ability, the hallway finally has a great look heading into the 2007 season and will be renamed Baysox Boulevard.
2006 "Fear University" Haunted House
The Booowie Baysox, in partnership with Tulip Gulch Productions, hosted the area's longest running Haunted House Event at Prince George's Stadium in October 2006. It was the 5th season for the Haunted House at Baysox Stadium and 20th year overall in Bowie. The latest show,"FEAR UNIVERSITY" was Tulip Gulch Productions' ALL NEW production for 2006 and put a total of 5,939 through the turnstile over 13 fright filled nights.

This album features images of every single player who played for the Baysox during the 2006 season. A total of 55 players donned the Baysox jersey in 2006.
2006 Animal Appearances
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources brought animals to the Baysox at Prince George's Stadium on Friday, July 21st with their "Scales and Tales" program. Guest animals included owls, vultures, hawks, and more. There were also animal appearances by the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore on July 22nd. Even Tom, the on-field emcee went ape!
2006 Tennis Ball Mayhem
Throughout the season the Baysox fans were able to purchase tennis balls for $1 each and attempt to throw their ball into a hula hoop which corresponded with a prize. 11 finalists were able to enter a drawing to win a Honda Civic.
2006 Scout Day
June 9th saw local Boy Scouts honored in a pre-game ceremony at Prince George's Stadium.

2006 Meet the Team #3
The Baysox final Meet the Team day was on Saturday, August 26th before the Baysox game versus the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the final fireworks show of the season.

On June 25th the Baysox sat down before their game versus the Erie SeaWolves and signed autographs for their fans in this season's second Meet the Team day.
Calvin Maduro Retirement
On June 10th, Calvin Maduro's pitching career came full circle as he retired where he began his career - with the Bowie Baysox. Maduro, who was knighted by the Queen of The Netherlands in 2003, played with the Orioles, Phillies and Yankees organizations in his 14-year career and had stints with both Baltimore and Philadelphia in the Major Leagues. The Aruba native is now the Orioles pitching coach for the Aberdeen Ironbirds.

2006 Baysox Golf Tournament
On Wednesday, August 16th the Baysox held their 4th annual Golf Tournament at Marlton Golf Course in Upper Marlboro, MD. Proceeds from the event went to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The event was also sponsored by Outback Steakhouse.
2006 Football Night
July 23rd saw the Baysox celebrate the upcoming football season with Football Night, complete with a free mini-football giveaway. The DC Divas, Washington DCs professional women's football team had representatives at the ballpark too sign autographs.
2006 Baseball In Education
Education is important to the Baysox. In 2006 the team played a few day games and invited students from the surrounding area to come to a Baysox game and learn how education plays into baseball.
2006 Beach Night
On Saturday, July 8th the Baysox celebrated the summer with Beach Night, complete with Jimmy Buffett music. The team wore Hawaiian-style shirts during the game and then auctioned them off at the end of the game.
2006 Baseball Camps
The Baysox held to baseball camps for local youth. Kids were able to learn from the professionals, including James Johnson, Nick McCurdy, Ryan Hubele, and a lot more.
2006 Reading Night
During the summer of 2006 the Baysox celebrated all the students throughout the Southern Maryland area who participated in the Baysox summer reading program.
2006 50s Night
On Saturday, July 29th, the Baysox celebrated the 1950s decade with a flashback at the ballpark. Locals brought in their antique cars and swing dancers entertained the crowd. For the game the team wore the old Orioles jerseys from the 1950s when they were known as the St. Louis Browns.
2006 Baysox Reading Programs
The Baysox were active again in 2006 with their Reading Program. Students from all over Maryland participated in reading contests and a number of students won a drawing contest where their picture was featured as the program's poster for their respective county.
2006 Character Appearances
During the 2006 season the Baysox were host to a number of wonderful characters from television, including Elmo and Cookie Monster, Bob the Builder, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Ruff Ruffman from FETCH!
2006 Dirty Jobs Episode Taping
Prince George's Stadium, "Home of the Bowie Baysox" played host to the taping of the Discovery Channel's #1 rated show, "Dirty Jobs" on Friday, August 25th. The taping will appear in an upcoming episode set for November 2006. Baltimore native and host of "Dirty Jobs" Mike Rowe spent his day at Prince George's Stadium, doing various "Dirty" tasks for an upcoming episode taping.
Maggie Moos Ice Cream Grand Opening
Baysox Pitchers Garrett Olson and Beau Hale were on hand at Maggie Moos Ice Cream for their grand opening in Severna Park on Saturday July 29th. There were several local celebrities on hand taking part scooping out ice cream to customers throughout the day.

2006 Bullpen Garden
This year's caretakers are Manager Don Werner, RHP James Johnson, and RHP Brian Finch. The Garden has been a staple in the Baysox bullpen for the last few seasons and it has become a very popular area of Prince George's Stadium. The Baysox Garden is somewhat reminiscent of the Garden Orioles' Legendary Manager Earl Weaver kept at Memorial Stadium. The 2006 Garden was featured in ESPN The Magazine.
2006 Negro League Tribute
On Saturday, June 10 the Baysox honored local members of the Negro Leagues with the Baysox 5th annual Negro League Tribute. The Baysox were pleased to host seven former Negro League players including William "Sonny" Randall and Joe Durham, the second black player to play for the Baltimore Orioles. The players and coaches donned Kansas City Monarch replica jerseys which fans were able to bid on during the game. Following the game the winning bidders were able to go on the field and pick up the game-worn jerseys, which the players autographed.
2006 Pink In The Park
Sunday, May 7 the Baysox helped support Breast Cancer Awareness by donning pink Baysox jerseys during the game. While the team was on the field the fans were able to participate in a silent auction for the game-worn jerseys. After the game the winners were announced on the field and were able to receive their pink jerseys from the players. The event raised over $10,000 was raised to help the Holy Cross Hospital Breast Cancer Research Fund.

2006 Jim Palmer Appearance
On April 25, Jim Palmer visited the Bowie Baysox with Strike Out High Cholesterol: A Program to Lower LDL Levels. The event was sponsored by Merck Schering-Plough & Men's Health Network. Palmer spoke about his personal experience with the condition. Enjoy the pictures!
